Important if you’re exporting to countries or regions with significant Muslim or Jewish populations. Most of
our local suppliers are certified for these standards.
Quality parameters:
Sunflower oil is a popular edible oil that’s used in cooking, frying, and as an ingredient in various food
products. When determining the quality of sunflower oil, several parameters must be considered.
Read more about some of the most important quality parameters for sunflower oil that we constantly monitor:
It indicates the extent of oil breakdown. Lower FFA percentages are
preferable, as higher percentages can lead to a sour taste and shorter shelf life.
Measures the extent of lipid peroxidation. Lower values indicate fresher oil, while
high PV suggests the oil has begun to oxidize and may have an off-flavor.
The color should be light yellow. A darker color may indicate degradation or contamination.
Fresh sunflower oil should have a mild taste and no off-odors. Rancid or off-odors
indicate that the oil has gone bad or is of poor quality.
The temperature at which the oil begins to break down and smoke. A higher smoke point
means the oil can be used for frying at higher temperatures without breaking down.
The oil should have low moisture content to ensure a longer shelf life. Impurities
can affect the flavor, appearance, and overall quality of the oil.
This serves as a natural antioxidant that can extend the shelf life of the
oil. It also contributes to the nutritional value of the oil.
It’s used to measure the purity of the oil. Adulterated oils may have a different refractive
index than pure sunflower oil.
Measures the degree of unsaturation in the oil. Higher iodine values indicate more double
bonds or unsaturated fats, which can affect the oil’s stability.
Indicates the average molecular weight of the triglycerides present in the oil. It can
also hint at adulteration if the values are off from the expected range for sunflower oil.
Varies with temperature and is used to determine purity and potential adulteration.
Reveals the composition of the oil in terms of saturated, monounsaturated, and
polyunsaturated fats. Sunflower oil is known for its high content of linoleic acid (a type of polyunsaturated fat).
Lab Tests
Laboratory tests are crucial to determine the quality, authenticity, and nutritional content of sunflower oil.
According to your need and business agreement, our execution team may perform various tests typically
conducted on sunflower oil in an independent and well known 3th party laboratory.
Im most case we work with:
various food and agricultural services, including oil analysis.
well-established.
With labs in multiple countries, Eurofins is known for its wide range of testing services. They
handle food and feed testing, including oils.
Packaging and Storage
The packaging of sunflower oil is important for both preserving its quality and ensuring its safe transportation
and storage. The type of packaging can vary depending on the intended use, target market, and quantity.
Here are some common types and considerations for sunflower oil packaging that we work with:
Big quantities of sunflower oil are usually sold in bottles which are packed in cartons for shipment.
Most of our suppliers disposes with modern bottling line. Bottles can range from small sizes (250 ml) for
individual households to larger sizes (1-5 liters) for more extensive use.
For bulk transport, especially in containers, sunflower oil is often stored in flexitanks. These are
large, flexible storage solutions that fit inside a 20-foot container, holding up to 24,000 liters. Cheap and safe,
this method is commonly used from our customers in Africa and Asia.

These are stainless steel tanks designed for transporting liquids in bulk. They are reusable,
maintain product quality, and can hold up to 26,000 liters of sunflower oil.
